Anchor House... April 2020

Well..once again life has been busy so posting is behind. In April I was able to volunteer a day at Anchor House. A fantastic ministry to seamen/seawomen at the docks in Palmetto, Fl. Ships/tankers come in to this dock and the men and women are able to come into Anchor house for some relaxing, food, and some Bible lessons...such a great place. Some folks from our Sunday School class came later in the day for a tour and Denny stayed with me for the duration of the day....it was a wonderful experience...

Security at the port is very tight, I had to stop and get this ID first...

They have this great van to take the guests into town. They go to Walmart most of the time...foreigners love Walmart!!

A nice big screen porch gave folks an outside option for relaxing...

These are Bibles in MANY languages, was so cool ...

Areas to eat, read, relax, watch TV or play pool...a really nice place

The kitchen was small and we mostly only offered microwave food...but they seemed to love it

Super cool t-shirt...

It had been a wonderful day...maybe when I retire I can spend more time here. God is truly working in this place.

Tampa Zoo....have been curious...it was COOL!!

After watching some "Secret's of the Zoo, Tampa" shows on TV we were curious...with sister Debbie down for a visit, thought we'd go check it out. Took 1.5hrs to get there, but was really worth it.
It was closing 1 hr early today due to a private event, so we were off and running....
This zoo is divided into different countries, with animals from those areas...super cool

Had never seen one of these creatures before...wow, cool...India

The zoo had a hugs display on dinosaurs...was done very well..

This one is one of Quinton's faves...have heard him talk about this one many times.

Moving on...we found this gorgeous Eagle...they are so majestic.

This lizard looking thing was big and ugly
On to the sea world creatures..manatees...and otters

And alligators..

And feeding time for the penguins..

Moving into Africa...

Debbie and I decided to feed the giraffes...too fun

Poor awesome birds..this guy was so unique looking. The cage kept me from getting a good picture

Never seen an orange monkey, it was cool

Long hair monkey, they were having fun

Not a gator, but probably his 1st cousin

A really quick glimpse of the brown bear

Some really big and different looking birds..

Never heard of these before..

Mr. Rhino was hiding on the shade...

Look at that razor nose...funky

The weather had been perfect all day, it had been a great day, but time to head back home.
We stopped at a fav place for some awesome 3 crab soup, and dinner.
We'd go back, it was an amazing zoo..........see you next time
