Chicago...the city of Skyscrapers and Family fun....September

Denny has a cousin that lives in the Chicago area and they have been asking us to come for a visit...so we are finally heading up...it's been a busy 3mths for us and we're glad for a break and some family time. We arrived late on Fri nite and Harv and Peg picked us up on Sat morning...off we went to see the downtown area. We'd never been to Chicago before so we were wide eyed and amazed. First stop The Willis (Sears) Tower...soo cool.

The winding way to get to the elevator was full of interesting facts

The tower is 262 Michael Jordan's...too funny

The elevator ride up....

The views were amazing....the river

Lake Michigan...big marina

Interesting buildings being pointed out on this map

Harv, Peg, Denny, Nathie on the glass push out....was so odd standing out there...

Looking straight down from the glass room...

Really enjoyed our visit to the tower...

Next was lunch at a famous Italian restaurant...Berghoff's

First opened in 1898...

After an amazing lunch, Harv drove us around for a downtown city tour..
The weather was a little windy...but not bad

Was a little windy on Lake Michigan..

It was beginning to rain and time to head home...it was about an hour ride out to the country so we headed home...it was a great ride and very peaceful just a short distance out of the city. It was great to see the city...but we really enjoyed being out where it was quiet. We stopped and had a wonderful BBQ sandwich and headed home. It was a bit cooler, so we slept with our window open...but closed it early in the morning ...burr....but was a sunny day.

After a wonderful breakfast, Harv took us to see his shop/business....so fascinating..
