We got home late and went to bed fairly quick.
Thursday I was only working 1/2 a day so we could go have some fun. We started by heading to 158 Main for lunch....it is just the best, Karen loved it too. Then we headed to Snowflake Chocolates, about a 25min ride through a few small towns...the best chocolate, fudge and sea salt caramels....we got stocked up!!
As we came into town we passed a small fair so we headed back to that. It was literally about 15 tents set up in a field on the side of the road. I thought we'd be there a few minutes....wrong.....we were there about an hour or more. We met a charming woman Davorka Gosto from Herzegovina. She was selling some native foods....oh my. I ate a chocolate crepe as soon as I bought it....wow. I bought a jar of Ajvar. I've never really heard of this before, it's roasted eggplant/peppers/oil/salt/pepper...how can I go wrong. Will be great on bread or veggies, we'll see. There was a cool booth with a woman selling woolen yarn she had spun from her own sheep. Then we came to a Greek guy selling MANY hot dishes. He must have had about 8 huge chafing dishes of hot food he would put on a plate for you. We looked for so long, and chatted and they were only about an hour from closing he finally gave us a plate full of something I can't remember the name of. Alrighty....free dinner, all we needed was a salad.
Next was a booth where a guy was selling his homemade candies. He was a maple farmer, and started making candies on the side. Some had maple in them, some didn't. His caramels were great. Yep, had to buy some. Then we came to a delightful retired man that made birdhouses....these things were gorgeous, it was a true labor of love. Then we sampled bread from a bread maker....wow. For such a small fair, it kept our attention for a good while. It was getting later and time to head back, we needed to buy a salad and wanted to be home before dark, and we were hoping to make the 7p bonfire.
A quick stop at 158 Main for a spinach salad and we headed up the mountain towards home.
Got the car unloaded from the days shopping and walked over for the bonfire. One of the entertainers here had his guitar and was having a sing-a-long. You were welcome to bring hotdogs or marshmallows to roast but no one did. It was a light crowd, maybe 10-15...but we had fun. We sang and warmed by the fire for an hour. We chatted with a retired couple that told us about some of their many travels and then we headed home....we had a free dinner and some Glogg waiting on us!! Dinner was ok, we agreed it was good, but probably not a repeat...but we were grateful. The salad was great! Then we broke out some of our chocolate and we just chilled. Was a fun day.....Stowe tomorrow.
