A quick trip to Ohio for a 70th birthday party...

A few months back we recieved an invitation to attend Floyd's (Denny's cousin) birthday party......we were happy to accept and attend. Flights were easy for a Friday and we were in Columbus, Ohio by 7p. Got the car, checked into the hotel and headed downtown to eat....it was on;y 15-20min away. We'd been told there was a food truck festival by the riverwalk...cool. Well, we found out the festival didn't start until Saturday so we settled on eating at Dick's Last Resort...had heard about this place, but had never been. The closest one to us is about 2.5hrs away, so this was a good opportunity.

It's a really fun place...with ok food.....might not need to go again, but it was fun, once. They explain ahead of time...the are "rude" for fun....they guy was easy on us, but it was fun for an evening.

Everyone gets a hat....our's were a little ..hummmm......but funny.

We shared a BBQ plate...chicken, pork, ribs...was not bad..but wasn't "southern" BBQ..we should have known better. Anyway, we enjoyed the time and seeing downtown. Got back to the hotel and settled in...tomorrow we had about 1.5hr drive to the family farm for the party.

Slept well, and it was a beautiful morning.....made a quick stop at Mickey D's and headed north. It was a really nice drive, much of it on roads goong thru small towns. Denny always enjoys seeing his hometown of Bucyrus. We had some extra time, so he drove around a bit, then we headed to the farm.
We got there a bit early, but had been told that was ok... they had a tent set up outside for eating and visiting. There were probably about 50-60 folks...we had a nice catered luncheon....thanks so much guys we really enjoyed coming.

Harve's arm just down the road....

Harve and Peg and Kathy enjoying lunch and a nice visit.

Family and friends having a good time....

The birthday boy....Floyd in hos plaid shirt.....Happy 70th Floyd!!

Denny and Harve chatting.....he does like visiting with his cousins.

It was a wonderful day...the rain and storms forced us inside....it's an old farm house with no A/C...but the fans and windows being open were nice. We visited a good while and then headed into town, Denny wanted to make a quick stop at Miller's for a chicken sandwich. It's more like "chicken mush" to me...it's an Ohio thing and when we get close to his hometown we have to stop...that's fine...then back to the hotel, and off to bed. The flts were not kind to us the next day and it took a while to get home, but we finally did....we're so glad we could make the party....thanks again for inviting us.
