Ohio...family...Amish country and my birthday...

Was time to visit 2 of Denny's cousins...so excited to go visit, and we hoped a good time of year.
We flew up on our Anniv and hoped ot get to Columbus, Ohio in time for a nice dinner. Well, that didn't happen. We were late getting in and happy to get Moe's Mexican and eat it in our room...oh well, an anniversary we won't forget!! Good nites rest and up the next morning to get our rental car and head towards Lexington, Ohio where Cousin Jeanette and husband Clancy live. Took about an hour and got there in time for lunch...some yummy chili and sandwiches. Then we headed off for a drive. Denny wanted to go again to the cemetery where his parents were buried and to see some old places from his childhood. The drive was lovely and we saw everything he wanted to see. Then we were off to Grandpa's Cheese Barn and Chocolate shops. It was HUGE. We sampled many and bought several, knew they'd be good with some wine later. Then we HAD to sample the chocolate, it was yummy too..bought a little and headed home. Jeanette fixed a wonderful dinner, then we played cards. It was such a nice day and evening. Slept great, up the next day, my birthday, and after some breakfast we headed to Amish country. At our first stop we say them making REAL popcorn...wish I could have had some, but I can't eat it anymore...but looked and smelled great.

We watched several minutes...was so cool

It was a bit cool today and it was nice by the fire too....

We sampled a cinnamon roll with Maple glaze and I decided one of those big things was going to be my birthday cake...took me all day to eat it, but it was sooooo yummy. We drove to Guggisberg Cheese and got some of their awarding winning swiss to bring home. Then, on to the town of Charm to show them The Charm Country View Inn, or fav B and B that we've been to many times. Then off to Sugarcreek for some shopping. It was such a gorgeous day, a little cool, but beautiful.
Then we headed home by way of a Mexican Restaurant for dinner. It was a wonderful dinner and Jeanette saw to it that they knew it was my birthday....we had a great time.

That fried ice cream was GOOD too.............yum!!!
What a fun birthday day...........

Not his birthday, but he had to try the hat....LOL!!!

Back at the house more games...so much fun....we head to Zanesville in the morning to see Floyd and Marilyn.

Had a quick breakfast and headed out the door early. We had a wonderful visit, and we'll be back...thanks so much for everything, see you guys in FL.  It was a very scenic drive to Floyd's and we arrived in time for lunch...had a quick sandwich and headed out the door to go catch a riverboat ride. Again, a little chilly, but a gorgeous day. By this time we have learned, if you go north in the fall pack a jacket....no matter what weather.com says before you go!! We were ok, and the sun was out...

The Captain is giving us a small chat, boat rules...a little about the boat and the Muskingum river
 Top deck was full....

Was a bit muddy, and very quiet.

Made it back to the dock safe and sound...was a nice ride. Thanks guys for taking us, that was fun.

Next stop...artist area of downtown Zainesville...it's a very artsy town. Marilyn is a painter and has many friends that are artist in other areas. Some of them were ask to paint a flag/banner for the light poles...here's one side of hers

next we stopped and a fellow artist studio...he does bronze statues.

This is actually a "selfie" ...he and his wife lying the caskets...kinda spooky.

His talent was amazing...so glad he was there on a Sunday and we could get in....wow!!

2 floors were full and all amazing...

Then all of this was on the sidewalk outside his place..

He even has an Indian on top of the building...

The March of the Sheep....LOL

The front door was even cool....this was an unexpected treat...

The bridge that splits over the two rivers.......Y Bridge

We headed home for some chilling and grilling.  After a wonderful dinner, and conversation, we headed to bed.
But first, Floyd shared the famous Jeanette brownies, with some ice cream...oh my were they good.

Up the next morning and headed out to some small towns for wandering and lunch.
First town was a bit closed down, but fun to see...

The title said... The Proposal..

Next was lunch at the train depot...they were re-modeling inside the cars, so we couldn't go in but was fun to see. Lunch was good,  the inside of the building was decorated with all things old music. Albums, juke boxes..really cool. Then  we headed back home.
 .

It had been a lovely day and we drove thru some small towns on the way back. We enjoyed sitting on the back patio and watching the river go by. Had some wine and cheese and just enjoyed the afternoon. Marilyn had a book club meeting to attend so we 3 just stayed at the house and enjoyed. We decided to order Chinese, so the guys went and picked it up and when Marilyn got home we enjoyed our dinner. Another wonderful day and very relaxing.
Next morning we were up fairly early, we had a 3-4 hr ride to Cincinnati...next stop The Creation Museum and The Ark...long time bucket list items.

The drive took longer than we figured, and we had to go trade in our rental car..just a minor detour...but we made it just fine. And thankfully the hotel had washer /dryer for guests to use. So i did laundry and we just chilled. Went to Panera's across the street for dinner and watched a movie. Was a "get things done" day....

Tomorrow Creation Museum...I can't wait.
