I'm not much of a cabin girl...so I stayed in a Holiday Inn down the road. Now, if I had an RV, they do have an area that can handle tents to big rigs with hook-ups...but alas, I don't have it yet...so, off to the hotel for me. The cabins are great for kids...a/c...bathrooms...but with bunbeds and 20+ women, not my idea of a good evening....so I just enjoy the rest and am grateful the Holiday Inn is close.
Therefore, we didn't arrive much before dinner time...but that was fine, we found the others and had a nice fried chicken dinner. Jenny needed to work longer in the day like me, so we road over together.
We had a "welcome" before dinner, and some explanation on how things work
The inside of the dining hall is gorgeous, the accoustics are not great, but it's pretty
Outside the dining hall...a wrap around porch that faces the lake...beautiful.
This cross is very nicely placed
On our way through the woods to the chapel for an evening workshop..
After this class we made our way back to the dining hall for our first workshop with the keynote speaker. At the end of her workshop we were all instructed to write something on one of the small tiles that were on the table that we wanted to turn over to God...then as we left in silence, we could bury that problem in the cement that would help create a stepping stone...pretty neat idea.
I headed off to the hotel and the others headed to the cabin or the movie. The next morning, I was back in time for breakfast...the sun hitting the lake and the cross was beautiful
The dining hall porch always looks inviting...
One of the students from Johnson Univ that had just visited our church lead the singing all weekend.
Then we had time to attend 2 workshops on our own....
Then we had some free time....it was geting very hot so I decided to ride around the campus and take some pictures.
Swings, gazebos and climbing course...all by the lake
The office......
Volleyball....
The Zoom Floom...for anyone daring to go down the slide. Paddle boats and Pontoons
The RV area...very nice, with a nice bathhouse for tent folks
Some of the cabins....with many cars parked around
Frisbee golf....
Soccer field.......
Our group in front of the newly completed James and John Building.
The inside....great class rooms as well as a nice bedroom and bath for the camp director or visiting speaker.
It's a wonderful camp and can actually work as 2 camps at once. With cabins on both sides of the central buildings. For this event we use all the cabins...it's very nice and the facility is well maintained. We had a nice lunch and headed home...another nice time.
Well done Lake Aurora Team, we'll see you again.
