Ohio...a nice trip

With all the house projects done, was time for a small celebratory trip. We headed to Ohio for a 5 nite get-away. Arrived late into Columbus and just stayed at an airport hotel...the next day we moved slow but eventually made our way back to the airport to get a rental and head north to Charm. We were staying in our fav B and B for 3 nites. We weren't in a hurry so decided to take the route through the small towns and enjoy some beauty. And by small, I do mean SMALL....hunger was setting in but we opted to get away from the city and find some cute place along the way.....well, we began to question that decision but alas we picked a place that had lots of cars...other than a Subway across the street it was the ONLY place in town. From the parking lot we could see the ONLY red light in town. Yes sir, we have arrived in small town, USA. This small town was Utica, Ohio. Denny laughed at the prices...he said "wow, they're giving away breakfast"....so after something to eat we headed on.

Our next small town adventure started because of a sign I saw...pointing to the....
Mohican Valley Trail...

We followed the signs and found the trail but it was only walkable and bikeable..as it was VERY hot and we didn't have bikes we opted to keep moving...but I really wanted to see this trail because there was a covered bridge on it. But, we kept moving.....but just a few miles down the road I saw a sign that pointed to the Mohican Valley Trail covered bridge, so we turned around and headed down the unpaved road. It wasn't bad, but it was worth it....we found it.
The longest covered bridge in Ohio and the 2nd longest in the USA.
(I did a video but turned my phone side ways, so....the video is sideways....didn't think I'd post that)
It is really cool....folks were really enjoying swimmimg, rafting The Mohican River

After enjoying looking up at it, we went up the bumpy road to the top...and got to walk on it...

Different views from both sides....was so cool we actually got to see it...but I'd like to bike the trail some time, maybe next time.

The rest of the ride was very pretty, rolling hills....and corn

We made a quick Wal-mart stop before heading deep into Amish country. Then we stopped at Guiggesburg Cheese..it's like a little Swiss store and this garden is so cute with its Swiss Chalet. They are famous for their Baby Swiss Cheese....yep, bought some as well as other flavors.Their "Christmas Tree" was beautiful...although not decorated for that...that's what they are to me....no palm trees up here.

And you know you have arrived in Amish Country when you see the horse and buggy everywhere.

We got checked in and headed to The Walnut Grove Cheese Shop. Which is not just a cheese shop. It's a great grocery store, bakery, ice cream counter and a counter that makes sandwiches/soups etc. You can eat upstairs but we got some to go and headed back to the B and B and the comfort of the huge front porch. We settled in and enjoyed a quiet evening. They put out desserts around 7p, always something sweet and something salty...very nice. We headed to our room about dark to look at some magazines and see what we might do tomorrow. No TV's no phones, just peace and quiet.
