Oasis of the Seas.....7 days on a floating mega ship

For several yrs I've been wanting to cruise on this ship...the biggest cruise ship in the world...and it was finally time.....we drove down and over early Sat morning....was an easy drive. Ft. Lauderdale is a HUGE port, there were about 7 ships in port and LOTS of folks...there were about 4 lanes of traffic, it was crazy.

Our first glance of our floating home for 7 days.....

We dropped our luggage, parked the Jeep and headed into the building. The check-in process was a breeze and we headed right onto the ship...

These were our tickets onto the ship......we were official now.....

here's a side view...it's a monster!!!

The "lobby" was WOW!!!!

Skylights and shops and eateries....it was really amazing....

These guys looked so real...what a cool touch.

Denny loved the car...what ship has a cool car in the entrance lobby??

We headed up to the Windjammer Cafe' for lunch....our cabin was ready very quickly and we headed down to drop stuff and hang up clothes.

We got all that done and headed outside to watch us sail!!!

But have to have that boat drill first....

Good-bye FLL.....

A few others were right behind us....

FLL beach....

And some left just ahead of us.....

The most work we were going to do for 7 days....which rung do we prop on!!!!!

The Sail Away party was really cute....

RCCL has an agreement with Dreamworks...so during the week we saw lots of the Madagascar characters...was cool.

After the show we looked around the ship...tried to get oriented so we could find things/places during the week. This ship has "neighborhoods"....this was looking down on The Boardwalk

This was looking down on Central Park..
You might notice there are balcony cabins looking down on this as well....first ship we'd been on that had "inside" balcony cabins....hummm....we could see pros and cons to this.

The kiddie pool.....wow.

Walking through Central Park....there were some specialty restaurants, a deli and some great places to just sit and enjoy.

Balcony cabins that overlook Central Park...

The Royal Promenade....there was even a Starbucks.....

Walking onto The Boardwalk there were Carousel Horses, leading up to......

The full size Carousel....never seen that before on a ship...yep, we rode it!!

Daytime and Nightime...it was so cool.........
See the hang-gliders under the sign???

Very cool artistic idea.......

Inside balconies that overlooked The Boardwalk.....

Johnny Rockets.....but u did have to pay a little extra to eat here.....

After a spin around the ship, we made our way to dinner and then bed. Tomorrow....Nassau.

Slept great, but woke up early...probably excitement. ...Good Morning Nassau!!

Was cool to watch them back the ship in and then tie us to the dock...took this picture straight down. Was standing on our balcony...

Another straight down picture....

We were almost hugging the dock....and time for those who wanted to get off...

Last line hooking....we were good to go........

Another ship was coming in.....

It was a rough looking morning, but within a few hours it was gorgeous...
We opted to stay o the ship in Nassau....been there a few times. It was like we had the ship to ourselves, most folks got off...was great.

This is the Solarium...several hotubs...a very popular adult area.

We watched this NCL ship come in....it only stayed about 15min and was gone again, we couldn't see on the dock, but we were guessing they needed to let someone get off.....

They had these amazing water slides....

This was a rope odstacle course....cool

We walked around to the back of the ship to see the sports things...thought this bench was very cool.

A view of Paradise Islad from the top deck....nice

The really expensive suites....they overlook the sports area...but was odd to us that their balconies were not very private....

Putt-Putt anyone???

Looking down on the boardwalk....

And the really cool FlowRider

No mistaking who's bathroom this is!!!

Nassau was a short stop....was time to go....the pilot boat got next to the ship to pick up the "pilot" that guided us out....some good manuvering ....and we were off....open seas for 1 day, then St. Thomas.

This evening we had booked a "specialty" restaurant 150 Central Park..one that you have to pay for....it was very nice....a tapas restaurant....

The table was set beautifully....

Bread and fresh cooked veggies...1st coarse...

The butter for the bread was unsalted because they wanted us to try these salts from around the world. Had never done this before...was really fun to put them on the bread. I was amazed at how strong some were. One was smokey, one tasted like boiled eggs, one like BBQ....a cool experience.

The other courses were fantastic....we like tapas meals...
Our waiter was wonderful...he hurried a little so we could make our show....we did fine..it was dessert time....

Very good.....but I have had better chocolate desserts......

We were all done and headed to the theatre to see CATS!!!
Was a nice stroll through Central Park...

As we entered the area where all the shows are these were part of the decor....clever...

This was outside a Jazz Bar...

The set was amazing....the show was very good....but a bit too much drama for us....we decided we'd rather have fun shows on a ship and go to NYC for our "culture"!! However, they did do an amazing job!!

Was time to go check our balcony for stars......next day...cruising.

Our cabin stewardess was awesome....

Made us wonder if we'd be seeing bats somewhere!!!
