St. Thomas.....

It was beautiful and hilly.....but a bit overcast.

Just beautiful coming into the port......

There were other ships already here....

RAIN....RAIN...go away...come again another day.....that's what we wanted to say as we got off the ship...it was pouring, but we had booked a 3rd party tour and we had to go. Marian's Taxi....I'd read a lot about her on Tripadvisor and I'd emailed with her several times...I felt good a bout booking a private tour. Our hope was to tour St. Thomas, then catch the ferry to St. John and also see that island...but the rain stopped that plan. So we spent our time on St. Thomas.....which was ok...we'll come back to see St. John and some other islands.

We found "Queen Marian" and off we went.....they drive on the "other" side of the rode so we were really glad we were not driving. And yes....they LOVE their rum. We bought a few flavors to bring home...YUM!!

You can barely see the top of Blackbeard's Castle...we'd hoped to see it, but the rain had it closed.

We did however get to see the Synagogue...it was beautiful

The volunteer handling the tours had to buzz me in....I learned it was not in a very nice area of town...but we seemed to be ok.

She was very nice and very knowledgeable...she was an American but had been wintering here MANY years....

Notice the sand on the floor...supposedly it's there to represenet the 40yrs Moses and the children of Israel wandered in the desert.

The Torah scrolls, the 5 books of Moses....saved from 3 fires and placed in this location in 1833...

To this day....a local retired doctor will still come and perfom circumcisions on babies they put them in this chair...EEEEKKKK

Everything was beautiful, this is the oldest Synagogue in continuous use under the American flag, and the 2nd oldest in the western hemisphere.

Now for a little shopping at The Tablecloth store...then up the mountain. We headed away from busy downtown .....

Very old hotel....Est 1829..

The famous 99 steps up to Blacbeard's Castle...but not today..too rainy

The Governor's Home......

It was still pretty...even though it was cloudy..

This is Megan's Bay...it's shaped like a heart...........One of the most beautiful bays anywhere

Cloudy, rainy day...but still nice.....

Another castle....

Look at all the ships in port...

Since we couldn't go to St. John we asked to be taken to somehwere for an authentic island lunch...

We got one lunch and split it....it was very good....WOW...the WHOLE fish...

Was a great lunch place....if we come back, we might eat there again.

Back into the truck..tasted some rum and then bought some and then headed to the ship

So long busy shopping streets of St. Thomas.....

Home sweet home.....but we had some time..

So we enjoyed a little music first...

Back on the ship and off we went....we were not really hungry so we skipped dinner and decided to try and make the Oasis of Dream Aqua Show...it was amazing....

Sorry for so many videos, but this show was just ...WOW!!!

It had been a great day of fun...the weather could have been better, but still better than a good day in the office!! Was time to head to bed and once again...our gal surprised us. I must say, guests in my house don't get these cute things!!!

Tomorrow...St. Maarten....or St. Martin........we shall see!!
