Happy Birthday Denny!!

May is such a great month to travel so we try to take a trip for his birthday...makes it fun.
I'd brought the ingredients to make his fav Pumpkin Pie...he was so surprised. I made that and cooked breakfast and we sat out on our screened porch and just moved slow.

A gorgeous day and view...

He picked to go to an old car museum today. We had reservations at Top of the Rock for dinner so we headed out.
Another slow day for Branson, we were the ONLY people in the museum...lol.
It was one huge building, and we really enjoyed looking around. One side of the building had old tractors and farming equipment, and a few other old things sprinkled in, while the other side had all antique cars....what a perfect place to go for Denny's birthday.

As we were driving into town I snapped this shot of the local Fudge Shop...loved the "people" on top of the building....(hint)...they NEVER move!!!

Right inside the front door Denny found what he wanted for his birthday.....he wishes!!
A 1936 Cabriolet for $90k.....hummmm, maybe next year...LOL!!!

Thank goodness he didn't want want this 1927 Bugatti!!

We started our wandering and had a great time just browsing...yep, this is as big as it looks...

Love this old truck...

Even an old hearse...

We also found this really cool pelican...I can see him in our house....maybe.

Now it was time for all things cars....these were so cool.
Biggest collection we've ever seen

What a fun day so far, now it was time to head to Top of the Rock for some fun time and birthday dinner.
Top of the Rock has a little bit of something for everyone. Built by Johnny Morris....(Mr. Bass Pro Shops), and is huge and beautiful. You have the Nature Trail and Lost Canyon we were going to golf through. Then you take a shuttle to top of the mountain and find a Jack Nicklaus inspired gorgeous 9 hole course, with an Arnold Palmer practice facility and a Mexican restaurant named after him .. Arnie's Barn...because the wood it is made of came from a barn that was on his property. There is also an Ancient Ozarks Natural History Museum...it is 35,000 sq ft...wow!!
There is also Osage restaurant , where we were having dinner, and Buffalo Bar. So much to see and do...
We had no idea what to expect but this place was amazing, and gorgeous. Dinner was at 630p but I'd been told to come early so we could take a golf cart to see the waterfalls and the cave where you can buy a drink as you roll through...ok, we were early ...we checked in and found a map of the area...

Now to get our golf cart and go

...I drove, was his birthday...let him enjoy
First thing...through a cave.., this is gonna be cool

It it just got prettier from their...God's nature is a beautiful thing..

Denny got us a drink for our "road trip" in the Lost Canyon Cave Bar

So did all these things really used to live here??

We made it out....

and headed for the big covered bridge..

Beauty and waterfalls everywhere...

That was so much fun...now it was time to head to the top for more exploring and dinner..

As soon as we walked into the "lobby"...we saw these..

Top of the Rock loves history and you see things displayed all over the place.

Time to explore...check out that practice range..

Time to go see the Chapel and the End of the Trail All American Wine Cellar

We walked through the wine cellar bar to go see the Chapel

This collection of arrowheads and pottery were in a room across from the bar...it is for private events and they were setting up for one, but let us take some quick pictures

And right outside you see why it's called End of the Trail..this bronze was magnificent....

and this outdoor patio at the end of the water was gorgeous....

Now on to the Chapel, with wine in hand....

It was just beautiful...and nice size. Had 3 levels with plenty of room for a reception...

Often after a wedding the couple will choose to stay at Arnie's Cabin..the only place (right now) where you can stay at Top of the Rock...it's a cool 1 room cabin...they are building a hotel at the top but for now, you stay at Big Cedar Lodge at the base of the mountain and come up top for activities.
We didn't have time to also tour the museum but we bought tickets to go tomorrow, so we'll be back.
So far, this was amazing...and it was time for dinner.
So back inside and upstairs we went..

We were going to Osage...and just inside the front door...

So neat and loved the decor..

On the ceiling...so cool

Check out this chair......

We sat outside and looked down on the Buffalo Bar patio

Was so pretty as the sun was setting

Then came the sunset ceremony....the bagpiper was waiting...

And then it started....

And it all ended with shooting the cannon...so cool

A few more statues on the way out...

What a fantastic birthday day and evening...was time to head home and hit the bed.
Tomorrow we come back to see the museum and have lunch at Arnie's Barn and then go see Samson.
So much to do....
