It was a long evening of travel from SRQ to BOS, we arrived around 11p. I was working from the hotel the next day and we had a late check-out...then 11 days of vacation...woohoo!!
After getting the rental car getting out of Boston was a challenge...it's BUSY. But once we were on the way it was a nice drive to York. We arrived about 4p and this is what we saw.....WOW, what a view .....the coastline was gorgeous.
We walked out on the front lawn and looked back at the house....too cool.
The small house to the right of the big one is where we would be staying, in a 2br cottage....delighful.
The view from our cottage.....not too bad....thanks Allen and Nancy I think we'll like it here!!!
We visited a bit then it was time to head out for a Chinese dinner with friends. Then they drove us around a bit to see the town....and for ice cream..of course!! We were parked right beside the beach as the moon was coming up....beautiful.
Then we drove over as close as u can get to Nubble Lighthouse....just beautiful.....
After we got back home, we saw this...it was almost a full moon....beautiful.
The next morning it was gorgeous....we had wonderful weather the entire time.
Nancy and Allan had been busy and we enjoyed a wonderful pancake breakfast.
Then it was time to get out and see some things....only we got to ride in style...
I could have ridden back here for hours...it was just perfect....
We had a great pilot and co-pilot too....
They were kind enough to drive us all over, and explained some of the history of the area. Allan has been summering in this area since he was a child...and everywhere we went he saw people he knew, it was so cool...small town USA....is not forgotten.
We drove up and down the coast.....it was wonderful.
Lots of pleasure boats and lots of fishing/lobster boats.....
We headed back home and got in the bigger car to run some errands....we needed to buy lobster for dinner and a few other goodies. The place where we went to get the lobsters was very busy...
We could se all these crates in water through a window....we found out these are larger lobsters that get shipped out of the country....apparently we don't like them big....but others do...hummm....
Nancy and Denny were ready to dig in....it was YUM-O.
All I ate was lobster....and a few clams....was soooooo good.
After a wonderful dinner we rode into town for some local entertainment...it was rather good. Then we went to the local "boardwalk" area for some fun...I love skee ball....had not played in yrs.

Then it was time for bed...we slept so good with the windows open....the next morning after breakfast we went for another great ride....this time made a stop a Stonewall Kitchen. This place is amazing. These food products...jams/jellies/salsa and lots of other yummy things first started as a road side stand by 2 brothers.....they were discovered and bought out for many millions and it has sinice expanded to many products...it was very busy on Saturday, they had many samples out and after a few purchases we were on our way.
Right next to Stonewall's was a small Saturday Market....we roamed there for a bit and bought some wonderful local bread, I bought Chocolate Bread....yum.
After a wonderful morning ride we returned home to pack a small cooler and head out for our boat ride from Perkin's Cove. It was a perfect day to be on the water. Perkin's Cove is a delightful small coastal town. I had not packed a snadwich like the others with the hope of getting a famous Maine Lobster Roll...I scored. Grabbed one to go and jumped on the boat. This was a very busy cove....business, pleasure....lots of boats and people.
We sat up in the front of the boat...the weather was perfect.
The sailboats were beautiful
We headed for this bridge...though we could fit under it, our captian asked the folks on the bridge to open it for the sailboat that was behind us.....appparently, anyone on the bridge can hit the button to open it, and then close it.....gotta love small town simplicity.
Lots of lobster boats.....
Boats of all types and sizes...they were everywhere....
We got out into the more open water and headed for Nubble Lighthouse. Along the way we saw lots of things. This boat was a lobster trap tour....
There were colored buoy's everywhere....
This gorgeous hotel was just sitting on top of the cliff
We went right by Allan's house...the one in the middle with the flag pole...to the right of the pole, the roof line some what covered by the trees, was the cottage where we were staying...COOL!!!
I'd never seen a bell buoy before. These are used to warn ships when the fog/weather is so bad you can't see rocks/land etc....it even rang a few times...it made a really cool sound.
The homes along the coastline were just gorgeous...
Then we got to Nubble....we went all the way around it....it's the most photographed lighthouse on this coast....this was a front view you only get from the water.
After a little shopping we headed home....while havinga glass of wine and watching the water we saw the same tour boat go by that we had been on....was too funny
Allan's cousin and wife came over for dinner, yummy fish.....then we all headed to the Ogunquit Playhouse to see The Million Dollar Quartet....this is the cutest place. Been around many years.
The walls had picturs of famous people that have acted here....very cool
Here is the true story of that one magical evening....
It had been a wonderful Friday and Saturday...we'd seen so much and done so much and we still had one more day.....again it was time to fall asleep to a cooler evening......tomorrow morning we had more friends coming for breakfast....have to get up and roll...
