It was raining ....this is Oregon!!
Then we got to the beach....it was soooooo windy.
The wind was moving the sand across the beach....it was really odd looking.
It was stormy and the ocean looked angry...but pretty to watch.
We stopped in this quaint bar/restaurant for some great lobster bisque/clam chowder and yummy lunch. Gave us a chance to kinda dry out too.
After lunch we crossed the street to see the sights in this tiny town....
Can you see the waves coming up over the sea wall....it was amazing!!
Seems if you have the time to sit and watch you could see plenty of whales here.
If the center had been open we'd have gone in....but it was closed...but looked really fascinating.
Our next stop was The Devil's Punch Bowl...wow!!
Sorry for the loud noise, the wind was CRAZY!!
We moved down the coast to more sights....it was beautiful, might have been nice if the rain had ever stopped.
This was a beutiful lighthouse at Yaquina Bay. I was going to get out and take a closer picture, but when it took 2 people just to open the back door of the car, I decided I'd stay put. Maybe next time!!
Yaquina Head Lighthouse....looked lovely...one day I'm going to spend at least one night in a lighthouse...it's on my bucket list!!
We headed to a small town for some walking and shopping and happened upon these....LOTS of crab traps...........
A Wyland Wall....gorgeous.
This seal was VERY territorial about this dock....he didn't share well.
Not that you can tell all that well...but that little island was COVERED in seals....it was amazing.
A pretty bridge...even in the fog...
After some coffee, hot chocolate and some candy store treats it was time to move on.
Time to see some beuatful waterfalls...
Beautiful.....Denny and Shea were geting pictures taken by me and Mom....
This was gorgeous...Shea and I couldn't stand it, we had to walk to that bridge. Was an easy walk, you just had to be careful not to slip on the wet path.
Never seen moss that thick on trees.....evidence of all the rain
We made it....and took pictures looking back.....
And took pictures of them taking pictures of us!!!
Wow the moss...
On to the next falls....
They were all beautiful and unique in their own way...
One last waterfall....
Now it was time to head for home...after a quick stop at a look-out to see the river..
What a fantastic day, and wonderful trip. Al had driven us all over the place...it was fantastic. I hadn't been to Oregon in a long time and had never seen these places. Thanks so much for inviting us and being such gracious and wonderful hosts.
We'll be back!!!
We headed home the next day....but it had been a terrific trip.
